Colette Gannette

A vengeful member of the Gannette clan that was disowned by her family shortly after she gave them up for her love for Keith Brecklin thinking his love for her was so strong it would make up for the fact she no longer had a family.

She grew up in Reims where her parents ran a successful department store. It afforded them the luxury to give her the best things in life. She went to the best schools, had the best clothing, went on exotic trips and even with her best friend from school, Amanda. The two girls were hard to separate. It was no surprise that when Colette decided to come to America her best friend would follow her.

By not knowing the man she was falling for was a member of the hated Brecklin family, it caused a rift with her parents back home and her aunt and uncle tried to convince her to give him up before it was too late. Instead, she ignored them all and eloped with Keith thinking she was making some grand romantic stand in the face of oppression. It turned out to be the biggest regret she had in her life.

Being married to a doctor, she assumed if she did her best to support him when he was finally in practice she would be well kept. She was a very dutiful wife who kept a clean house, worked a second job to keep money coming in the home, and helped him get ready for his internship and classes. The first few years in the marriage were stressful, but she didn't mind because she thought she was married to a wonderful man who would sooner or later give her the best things in life. She was starting to miss the old days when her family would give her anything her heart desired, but she had to struggle for years to make ends meet. The last thing she wanted was to have a baby, at least not until he was a doctor, but things like that do happen in a marriage and Keith was adamant she keep the baby. It made finances more difficult and she began to felt more stressed out by the situation. It was so bad that she developed dangerous hypertension in her fifth month and was confined to bed rest until it was time to deliver.

By working extra hours and calling in some favours, Keith was able to afford the extra medical care and a nurse to tend to her while he was gone, but there were certain times when his odd hours were waking her up from some much needed sleep that he was ordered to stay at the motel. That was when he had a one time fling with her best friend.

She gave up her family and money for the man who betrayed her with her best friend. It was a sin she could never forgive. She was saddled down with a child she did not want to have, but she served to be a pawn to get back at Keith.
