Meade Johnson

Meade Johnson is the uncle of Ciecily and Tonya Johnson and brother of the late Henry Johnson. He was raised in Kensington Falls all his life and was the practicing history professor at Kensington University until his retirement. He kept his special project going on at the Municipal Center that kept genealogy records of every family and the history of the town for anyone to view upon request. He fancied himself as somewhat of an expert to the town of Kensington Falls.

Meade could trace his ancestors back to the times of slavery until Evander Gannette bought his family and brought them to town. He found out one of his ancestors was Ada Johnson who paid her way out of slavery by doing favours for her master from a very young age and to avoid the scandal in town agreed to let her go. She made her way up to Kensington Falls and had an affair with Evander. He was the product of one of their children.

Going through the property records was somewhat of a nightmare. There were so many poorly written contracts that were held up in court and went unchallenged that most of the owners of the property won it over by default of time. As it seems, the prime property of downtown Kensington Falls was rightfully owned by Agatha Kenzie who is the legendary daughter of Wayne Brecklin and Enid Kenzie, but there was never any legal documents spelling it out that she was in fact his daughter, although the paper trail shows Wayne did a lot to secure Agatha's interests in town. Either he was a very generous man who felt sorry for the orphaned girl or he was the girl's real father.

To the best of his knowledge, he remembers Agatha living in her house from the time he was a small child. She seemed like a weird old lady back then and even today she seems as if she has not changed a bit from the time he was a boy to now when he is an old man. Although many like to point out that the Agatha he remembered passed away several decades ago and this was only her niece, he somehow did not believe it because they looked so much alike, as did the several Agatha Kenzie ladies who lived in that house over the past 150 years which he found in the town history records.

He also took notes of the obituary from town. While everyone dies, Kensington Falls seemed to have a strange pattern when it came to people who have listed their homes for sale. Those who moved to another house in town were fine. Those with plans to move somewhere else died.

He also noted another strange pattern. It seemed people could go through town for a visit and leave without a hassle, but the moment a visitor passed by with any entertaining thought of staying seemed to be pulled into living in the town, sometimes under strange circumstances, and becoming a permanent resident. Kensington Falls was almost a vortex where people could be sucked in, but never really leave except through death.

In his latest effort to get more knowledge on the history of town, he ran across some books that were part of the town's original library and even records of the clients and the books they checked out. It seems some of the secrets in town may be figured out one day.
