Peter Smythe

Peter is the youngest son of Gerald and Martha Smythe. Gerald was the great-grandson a few times over of Jonathan Smythe, borne by a woman who volunteered to be his beard for the money and benefits of such a great man. Of course, the history of his homosexuality is something never spoken of in polite circles. Everyone knew the story, but would say in public it was just a nasty rumour and nothing more, but they did know better.

The scandal which did follow the Smythe family was more around the friendship Jonathan had with both Wayne Brecklin and Claude Gannette. It was hard for both families to take him as anything less than a traitor, so aside from his friendships with a Brecklin and a Gannette, his line would be forever shut out of higher circles once both of his friends have died.

Having a long history of beliefs to serve the community at large, Peter decided to do something useful by pursuing his fascination with science and wanted to teach young minds to embrace his same passion, so he became a science teacher. While studying to be a teacher, he met Debbie who was from out of town. It was so unusual to find many strangers in town, but her adventures and caring ways attracted him immediately. He really hates secrets, but from the moment he met her he knew deep down she was hiding something and wished she would trust him enough to tell him.

Peter would love more than anything to become a father, but as he and his wife are both infertile, the most they can hope for is to one day adopt a child.
