All Wayne wanted was a chance outside of the miserable poverty of his childhood in New York. While on his journey West, his group ran into a series of misfortune and they thought it would be best for him to stay there and earn money to go back home.
Upset at the choices given to him, he rested by the shade trees and was discovered by a kindly lady who looked nearly his age. She gave him the land to build a home. Later he would break her heart, destroy this simple home and exchange it for a life of money and power.
